I BELIEVE (Hard
Glass)
© 2006 Alan P. MacLeod SOCAN
I found hard
glass, out on the beach head
on a windy day, when the tide retreated
I found hard glass, worn at the edges
just as the sun set
long shadows, fading
I believe, a warmer wind is commin'
I believe, we shall not wait long
I believe we better, get a little closer now 'cuz
I believe it's comin' with the dawn, woh oh
I believe it's comin' with the dawn
I hope this hard glass, tumbling in my fingers
used to be a bottle (a faint desperate plan)
I hope this hard glass, held a secret message
and happy teenage lovers
were the ones that set it free
I believe, a warmer wind is commin'
I believe, we shall not wait long
I believe we better, get a little closer now 'cuz
I believe it's comin' with the dawn, woh oh
I believe it's comin' with the dawn
I'll take this hard glass, maybe keep it with the others
save it from its fate: constant wearing down, or,
I'll take this hard glass, maybe fling it in the ocean
to sink -- down -- slowly
sand back into sand.
Then moon and stars align
but my eye's on the horizon line
waiting, for the dawn, to come.
That is the time
I'll hold this hard glass of mine
close up, to be lit by morning sun
I believe, a warmer wind is commin'
I believe, we shall not wait long
I believe we better, get a little closer now 'cuz
I believe it's comin' with the dawn, woh oh
I believe it's comin' with the dawn, woh oh
I, believe ..
